Ordering Wigs n' Things

If your treatment will result in hair loss, it is recommended that you purchase a wig prior to losing your hair. That will enable your hairdresser to find a close match both in color (unless you are daring and choose something totally different) and in style. Some women opt to use scarves, hairpieces, and hats. Cancer centers may either carry those items for sale or have information regarding their purchase.

If needed, acquire a prosthesis as soon as possible. It helps your outlook when your clothes fit the way you are accustomed.

If given a choice I'd like to keep my hair please…
Something to brush and to comb and to tease.

However, if it must disappear for a while…
I'll still find a way to make you and me smile!

I'll stick some hair on, with India ink…
Or I'll get a wig, and wash it in the sink!

Somehow, or someway, or somewhere…
I intend to have, some kind of hair!

I see it sitting happily, on my "header"…
Until my body is all better!

Then I'll grow some new and authentic stuff…
Which I can comb! And brush! And fluff!

What a happy day that will make…
When the hair on my head…is no longer fake!
